In the past month, Thomas hosted its largest career fair ever - connecting many of our students with businesses across New England. Students had the opportunity to apply for open positions, discuss internship openings, and ask questions about individual businesses - many of them represented by Thomas alumni!

Looking ahead, Commencement is right around the corner. If you would like information or need to register for any of the weekend's events, please see the details and contact information below.

Until next month...

Career Fair Brings Record Number of Employers to Campus

Thomas College's annual Career Fair was held on March 13. A record 57 companies attended the Career Fair this year, and the number of companies returning increased.

"We've been able to grow the Career Fair from 22 to 57 organizations in four years by paying attention to both new company acquisition and retention of employers who have attended the Fair," said Rich Grant, Director of Career Services.

See a full list of the companies that attended the 2013 Thomas College Career Fair.

Businesses and students meet at the Thomas College Career Fair.

Some businesses, like Assistance Plus, were very interested in speaking with Thomas College students who are majoring in Psychology and Communications, with the hope of filling intern positions. Other companies, like Windows Plus, came looking for workers to help their businesses grow and found students in two Communications majors who could help them in their marketing and promotions departments.

Visiting Students from France

Every spring, students from France come to Thomas College. This year, six students from Audencia Ecole Atlantique de Commerce in Nantes, France, and a student from Ossun, France, made the decision to come to Thomas. Those first-year students are Mylene Joaillier, studying International Business; Pauline Mallet, studying Marketing Management; Jeremy Martin, studying International Business; Clement Menard, studying Marketing Management; Lauriane Pellaud, studying General Studies; and, Julien Sevestre, studying International Business.

Nantes, France, is a city with a population of 500,000 on the West Coast. Ossun, France, the town Julien is from, is on the southwest coast and isn't too far from Spain.

Overcoming the Odds

Miranda Tinsman '15, M.B.A. '15 isn't your average hardworking athlete. The 22-year-old Marketing Management junior has always had a knack for lacrosse, making 74 goals her senior year of high school - beating the school's previous record and was named Player of the Year by the Morning Sentinel.

Miranda played field hockey for the 2011 season and planned on playing in the upcoming lacrosse season. Unfortunately, her plans were set aside due to a car accident in November, not long after the field hockey season ended.

The car accident left Miranda with three broken bones in her neck, a concussion, and she was in a neck brace for three months. Fifteen months after her accident, Miranda is playing her first season of lacrosse at Thomas College: her first time playing in three years. "I couldn't be happier to play. I'm lucky to be able to play," said Tinsman.

Eight weeks into the season, Miranda's doing well with ten goals and two assists. In a 15-10 loss to Wesley in Florida, five of Miranda's seven shots found the net; "I just wanted to make an impression, make a name for myself again," she said.
