Karen Heck

Karen Heck was elected as the mayor of Waterville in November 2011. She sits on many local nonprofit boards and has received multiple awards for her work in the community. Karen has more than 30 years of experience with organizational administration and although she is well-rounded as a community activist, she is particularly passionate about improving the lives of women and girls. In 2008, Karen was inducted in the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame.

Meredith Jones has dedicated much of her life to improving the lives of Maine citizens. In the fields of health, education, leadership and philanthropy, she has helped shape policy and programs that have had a lasting impact on Mainers.  Ms. Jones has developed and led a number of significant programs, including Leadership Maine and the Maine Coalition for Excellence in Education.

Current President of the University of Southern Maine and former President of the University of Maine at Farmington since 1994, Dr. Theodora J. Kalikow is an unassuming individual who quietly runs one of Maine’s finest educational institutions, inspiring women and men, contributing to the community locally and statewide, volunteering on numerous committees and promoting educational opportunities.  Her intelligence, hard work, and focused commitment to her goals have earned her the respect of the people she has worked with and recognition by many organizations in Maine and beyond.  In 2001 Ms. Kalikow was inducted to the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame for the statewide impact of her achievements, her effect on improving the lives of women in Maine, and the enduring value of her contributions to women.

William Alfond
Director of Dexter Enterprises, Inc.

William L. Alfond worked 31 years as an executive at Dexter Shoe Company.  He currently serves as a director of Dexter Enterprises, Inc., a director of Olly Shoe in Canada/USA, and is a limited partner in the Boston Red Sox.  The Foundation, of which Mr. Alfond is president, supports educational, healthcare, and other charitable institutions in Maine and Massachusetts.  He serves on multiple boards of community and educational organizations, including the Harold Alfond Foundation, USA Biathlon Committee, Educare Central Maine, and his alma maters The Governor’s Academy and Colby College.
